Time to Move On

Hello faithful blog readers! I have decided that it is time to create a blog that is dedicated (almost) entirely to my knitting. The intention of this blog was to keep family and friends in touch with what we (by we I mean Greg, Jorn ,and myself... not me and my needles) are doing and I feel as if my knitting obsession is taking over quite in the same way that yarn is starting to ooze out of the nooks and crannies of our house.

So without further to do I bring you...SPIDERWOMAN a blog that you can visit if you are interested in my creative endeavours and knitting escapades. All you have to do is click on the SpiderWoman link to the right. I will of course keep posting here and will reconnect with my intitial desire for a family cyber album.

Oh, by SpiderWoman I don't mean the female counter part of Spiderman (though that would be pretty cool) I was thinking more along the lines of the mythical Native American grandma figure who weaves tales, families, and webs.

Love to you all.

Call me Crazy Cable!

My first cabled knit! It was so much fun knitting this vest (despite the fact that I was knitting with 100% pure Icelandic wool in nearly 100 degree weather...hence the "Crazy Cable" title)!. The pattern, Boogie, came from the Knitty Spring 04 issue. I have to say that I am not a sweater vest gal so I have a feeling there will soon be sleeves attached to this garment. But for now, I am quite happy with the results and I am over my fear of knitting cables!

This vest knit up so quickly I barely had time for a "on the needles" shot!

Thanks for Reading our Blog!

A kiss to all our faithful blog readers out there!

It's So Darn Hot!

Hi everyone! It has been super hot here. So hot I haven't wanted to pick up my camera, move, eat, talk, answer the phone...etc. I spent the morning with my feet in Jorn's kiddie pool knitting a wool sweater while he played along side. I don't know what I was thinking knitting a heavy wool sweater. I have offically crossed the threshold from a hobby knitter to an obsessive knitter. Someone help me!

Greg and I went to the Bob Dylan/Willie Nelson concert this past Thursday and aside form Greg almost getting arrested (long story) we had a GREAT time! Our friends Peter, Hildi, and Matthew came along. Jorn had his first night with a babysitter! (*Thanks* Michele!!!) No pictures because they didn't allow cameras into the stadium. They wouldn't let me bring my bottle of water in either which got Greg very angry and he poured water on the security guard hence the potential arrest. Fourtunately for us the local police thought the "no outside water" policy was absurd/inhumane too and after making superficial gestures of law enforcement just told Greg to stay out of trouble.

Greg turned 35 on Friday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOVEY!! Everyone send cyber kisses and hugs his way!

Anyhow...I better get some sleep before my little rooster is up in a few hours! I just wanted to give an update and send warm wishes to all the bloggers out there!

Nighty Night!

Pure Heaven

For all the knitter's out there...this picture is enough to send you through the roof! Yeah, you know it!

Take me out to the Ball Game!

Look out ladies! Jorn is a force to be reckoned with. No matter where he goes he finds a cute girl to hang out with! This picture was taken at the Pittsfield Dukes game opening day at Wachonnah Park. Jorn also had his ball signed by Matt Torra, a Pittsfield native, who was just drafted first round by the Arizona Diamondbacks!

He's still my little boy though!

Emily and James' Wedding 6.18.2005

This weekend my cousin Emily got married! It was a perfect day. A beautiful ceremony. A magnificent Bride and Groom. Romance and joy were in the air...what more can I say? We didn't take too many pictures because we were so busy having a good time and enjoying family. What a blessing days like these are.

You may now kiss the bride! This moment is so precious.

Jorn had a GREAT time at the reception! I think this picture says it all!

Before

Raw materials. Wool. Needles. Pattern.

I have already finished my first project with the yarn I picked up from the tag sale the other day. (Don't forget you can click on the pictures to enlarge them.) You'll see that I changed the color and type of yarn but I am pretty happy with the result.

After

A happy housewife in her handmade knits

Nana's Birthday Photo Shoot

Hello faithful blog readers (you know who you are). Nana and Papa Connors made a trip up North this past weekend so that we could celebrate Nana's 25th birthday (ahem) and Father's Day together before they depart on a *very* long bus trip to Mt. Rushmore (say hello to the boys in stone for me!)

We had a wonderful time. Their visit was filled with food, shopping, tag sales, laughter, and playtime. For the record it was a bizzillion degrees the whole time and the Berkshire Mts. didn't provide their usual relief but that didn't stop us at all.

Below are some pictures from the weekend, enjoy!

Mom and Dad Connors a.k.a Nana and Papa Joe.

Ok, so this picture is a little weird but it's the best we can do when you have three people who can't sit still posing for a shot. It is also a very rare photo of all three of us together so because of that it is precious.

You gotta love these guys!

I love this photo of Greg and Mom...it's my favorite from the whole weekend. I think it says it all, there is so much love in this picture.

A Hunting We Will Go!

This is what $25 gets you at the garage sale of a knitter. The woman, Clara, was an amazing craftsman and passed away a few years ago. Her daughter and grandaugther were there at the sale and showed me some of her handy work that really should be in an Americana museum somewhere. I hope I can knit these strands into meaningful pieces the way she would have. They are all imported wools from France, Sweden, Italy, and Germany!

$1 for a wicker bench, you say? I'll take it! Now I just have to find a cushion. It's a little frayed in spots but sturdy and nicely patinaed.

Pretty plates ( I have 8), an orange heavy glass vase (from a previous garage sale), a hand made tapestry pillow, and an icon from Italy. The frame and picture are incredible. On the back is the price tag in Liras.

Here is some stationery from Eaton Paper that was hand edged in the 50's. It is absolutely beautiful and only cost $5 for the whole lot (I have more than what is pictured) The great grandma of the family who was having the tag sale is the one who made it!

Here's a door we picked up for $15 at a tag sale around the corner which will find a home somewhere in the house. The picture doesn't do justice to the antique mohagany finish.

Another cute picture of Jorn!

My Weekend Family

Here is a photo of my weekend family. From left to right Cathy, Vicky, Kim, LaSaundra(rear-staff), Cristy, and Judy. These ladies are wonderful people and have taught me a lot over the past year and a half.

LOOK OUT WASHINGTON!

Yes! I know it's blurry but that is in fact JOHN KERRY! The lighting was really bad and a friend took the picture for me who had never used my camera. But, who cares! I gotta tell you there is no where else like Berkshire County, MA where you can rub shoulders with the big guys! I didn't get the chills like I got with Ted Kennedy but it was a wonderful experience just the same to hear Kerry speak.

Here he is signing an autograph for a local. I took this picture.

Later that day...

Greg was stopped on the street by a local news station and asked to comment on the recent crime wave in Pittsfield. His spot made it to TV but we couldn't tape it! Oh well...glad I took this picture though.
